About Toto
Toto was formed in the year 1976 by guitarists Jeff Porcaro, David Paich (who at the time were also well-known studio musicians with Boz Scaggs) and singer/bassist Bobby Kimball. The group's name was derived from a Latin word that means "all-encompassing" and was determined to explore every musical style.
The third album from Toto, Turn Back, was a failure in 1981. However they made amends with their fourth release, Isolation, which contained two songs that were hits with the title track and Roseanna. The album and tour made Toto a household name across the world.

Joseph Williams, the son of John Williams, the legendary film composer and actress Barbara Ruick from 1950s, is now replacing Fergie Frederiksen as lead vocalist. Joseph Williams is a natural frontman and gives the band a much-needed boost.
In 1999, the band releases Mindfields and begins an extensive tour around the world. After a few months in Europe they come to Japan where the shows are sold out. After a brief break, Toto resumes recording and begins recording their first live album entitled Absolutely Live in 1993 which includes a cover of Weezer's song Hash Pipe in response to the band covering their hit Africa on a recent tour. Toto's touring lineup is completed by drummer Lenny Castro, bassist Shannon Forrest and keyboardist Shem von Schroeck.

The following year, Toto toured together with Ringo Starr and his All Starr Band. This was the final time that all original members of Toto were on stage together. The band broke up following this. Toto returned for an event benefiting the ALS Foundation in 2010. to raise money for the ALS Foundation. It was the first time that all of the original Toto members were on stage together in over 31 years. The original members were joined by keyboardist Greg Tambu who filled in for Paich and bassist David Hungate who filled in for Shem von Schroeck.

In 2008, a string lineup changes and a string of albums that were disappointing led Toto to call it quits for a period of time. But, the group recommenced touring in 2012 following the release of their album, 40 Trips Around the Sun.
The album was a return to form for the band and the tour supported by sold-out shows in North America and Europe. Toto's reunion was bolstered by the addition of guitarist Steve Lukather and bassist Shem von Schroeck, both of whom had rejoined the band.
